The Q-Blocker tablet is designed to inhibit an enzyme in the digestive tract. This enzyme is called Amylase, which breaks down starch into simple sugars that can be absorbed. If it’s partially inhibited, then some of the starch is not broken down, passing into the large intestine, behaving like dietary fiber. The ingredients in one Q-Blocker tablet are enough to block the digestion of up to 75 grams of starch, which is worth about 300 calories in energy. The microorganisms in the large intestine will break down some of the starch, giving off some fatty acids that are absorbed and metabolized, so the net result will be about 225 calories. However, if multiplied by 3 (for the 3 main mealtimes), then an immediate energy deficient of nearly 700 calories per day is possible.*
